ALL SHUCKS!!

I hope you get it back soon!

Ron

Thanks Ron - I know you are all too familiar with the "sending it to Meade" routine.  Lucky for me, Irvine is only about an hour from here, which might help speed things a little.

I will probably mount the rig on my CI-700 for now - talk about overmounting!   Tongue

Ron -

I'm using a Kendrick solar filter.  Unfortunately, I won't be able to shoot another image because the mount for my 90mm broke today - I gotta send it back to meade.   Sad

Hi Ron -

Here is an image from this morning.  Looks like the one grouping towards the S. is growing.

Hi Wes -

I assume you mean one that will screw on where the eyecup goes?

I have never heard of one, but if anyone makes such a beast, it would be Scopetronix (www.scopetronix.com).  If you find one, be sure to report back here - I would like something like that for my 10mm XW.

Ron -

I was going to post about this same thing earlier today, but I was having trouble logging onto the ASO forums.   I have been watching the spots for the last few days, and they are growing quite rapidly in both size and number.  Here is a photo I took this morning with my 90mm refractor and digital camera:

Brian -

Congratulations on that super image of M27.  It looks like you are getting the hang of imaging with your setup - focus, tracking, and processing all look very good.  Looks like your PEC is working quite well also.

Looking forward to more!

Looks like your tracking is getting better, Brian.  Did you use PEC this time?

Looks like you had pretty good seeing, as the details are really sharp in this one.

Heeyyy, now there is a good idea!  Very portable indeed, yet gives more magnification choices than binoculars.

Even better might be the Orion ED80 - I looked through one and they are very nice - very much a Televue-ish view.

I was looking at the Konusky-200 - 200mm (7.8") Newtonian Reflector Telescope and wondering if it would fit the bill for a travel scope, any opinions?

Hi Dave -

I would stay away from the Konusky 200, even though I own one.  The reason is that Konus recently changed their manufacturer, and the new versions of the scope have poor mirrors and even poorer mounts - you would be best to avoid them.  The older Konus 200 I have is great, and is now currently being sold by Celestron as the 8" advanced series scope - this is the exact same scope as mine, and is a very good one.

Another option you might want to consider would be an Orion 8" dob - it would be much more portable (no mount), and has built-in DSC's.
