I'm looking forward to this also! I hope I'll be able to get some kind of image! But if I don't I'm sure someone here will. I'll even take that night off from work if the skies are clear. Smiley

40  Misc. Other Forums / Equipment / Meade DSI Pro on: April 07, 2005, 12:29:07 PM
Ah The million $$ question!  I was told end of April...but with Meades track record I wonder.
41  Misc. Other Forums / Equipment / Meade DSI Pro on: April 07, 2005, 12:14:04 PM
Well from what I can gather it will be about 2.5 times more sensitive than the DSI.

Drizzle

"Increased resolution. By taking a series of course pixel grid images from the DSI and applying them to a fine pixel grid image we are able increase the effective resolution better then interpolation."

I'll let the experts explain that one.

I like the extended view part of it. Here is the axplanation from the Meade site.

"Extended View. Images are added to a final image that is up to 2 times bigger horizontally and vertically. The Telescope is then guided to the 4 corners of the image giving a final image that is nearly 4 times larger"

I guess its an  Automatic Mossaic type feature, sound cool.

But this is the best part of it IMHO : Field De-Rotation. By selecting 2 stars, the software will rotate each image before it is applied to the final image.  A great addition for the alt/az folks!

The problem might be with the filter slide, I can see the filters getting dust/dew on them and ruining an image. But I suppose to keep costs down the slide is cheaper than a wheel.

The new AS suite software will be able to run mulitple DSI's and one LPI so thats a good thing for us regular DSI owners we can quide with the old and image with the new or use the DSI pro for lum and get  the color from the the old DSI....or HA from the new.

Looks promising you know I have pre-ordered one even though I have a hard time using what I already have! Smiley

Yes a very Happy Easter to everyone!

Thanks for all the comments. Smiley

I seem to have this problem with all images I process, I always try for a dark background...I end up clipping the histogram and loose detail! I need to work on that.

Now for the excuses part. Smiley I tried to process this on my laptop since my desktop is waiting on a new MB. The LCD screen is not good for processing images they look a lot different on a CRT then they do on he LCD. OK done with the excuses. Wink

Ron has done a nice job re-processing the image its sort of what I had before I went into my dark background mode but I like his colors better.

I'll re do this when I get my desktop back in action. Again thanks everyone for your input.

Ok here is my attempt at M51.

10"LX200GPS Meade DSI (removed IR filter), 3.3 FR, IDAS LPS 160x1min, Saved as fits, combined in AutoStar Suite  IP, cropped, rotated, resized and tweaked in PS. Noise reduction in Neat Image. Tracking was awful. Guess I did a bad drift alignment. I should have taken this with the ED80, but I wanted to try the 3.3FR on the LX200.
