Boy those images Rick is getting with his new gear are fantastic!
This is less fantastic, but an interesting and infrequently imaged galaxy field in Hercules:

Ted,
That's quite a collection of Galaxies, very interesting with all the different sizes and shapes.
It sure is nice to be able to see what you can't see
Nice job and thanks for sharing,
Ron

Hey Ted,
Nicely done! I really am becoming a fan of the wider field view as well. It only took me 6-7 years to figure that out.
By the way, how are you locating these Abell objects? Do you have a list of RA/Dec positions for them or something? I don't think they can be downloaded to the Autostar unless you make your own tour. hmmmm, sounds like a rainy day project coming on....

Thanks!
The funny thing Dave is that this is a high res shot, 1.18 arcsec per pixel taken with the LX200. It just looks like a widefield shot because of the target!
I have found that at this time of year the targets for the LX200 are much more numerous than are the widefield ones that I would use the Tak-60 or a camera lens for. That will change soon. The great thing about widefield is it's so much more forgiving of mount errors and seeing conditions. It's certainly cheaper than getting a great mount and moving to Arizona (I got the Tak used for about $600). Overall I'm very glad to be able to do either.
As far as finding the target, I could see the clump of galaxies in "The Sky" and did some Googling to find the Abell number.
