I copied this image from the Messenger web site the other day and colorized it and was wondering if the colors have the same indication of different metals that a colorized Moon has?

The original Mercury image is at http://messenger.jhuapl.edu/gallery/sciencePhotos/pics/c1000_700_430.png

I think colorizing an image does not reveal more information than the original image has. Rather, I believe that colorizing is an editing program that applies a histogram to the original digital file. The color rendition must, rather, must be a part of the sensing technique (I think).

Clever thinking Ron!
I like what I see,
very reminiscent of the Moon 'colorize' shots I've tried.
