Photoshop 5 or CS2 for most image processing

Hi all, I am new to this forum and to DSO imaging. I notice that a majority of people use Photoshop for post processing of images. I am curious as to whether
Photoshop Element 5 has the tools to do most of the post-processing tasks I will find necessary, or does one need to spring for Photoshop CS. There's a big difference in price and I will spend the money for CS if necessary but would rather not if it's not needed. Any thoughts from those using either platform would be most appreciated. Thanks----Ted in Virginia

Hi,
I use PS2 mostly for its ability to use curves and other good features on 16 bits images.
Since my kid is a student, we bought the student edition ... I would never have bought a full price edition, much too expensive for our home use.
Cheers

I use PSE 2 and the The Hidden Power of Photoshop Elements 2
If you can find PSE 2 and still get the add on, you shouldn't have much more than $60.00 in both programs
I was able to get my PSE 2 for $25.00 & $28.00 for the add on.
Check this link and scroll down to, Can I use the techniques described in the book with Photoshop Elements?
