Good day to all....
Most of you are now aware that Arkansas Sky and its affiliated observatories has a new web home and that things are changing and improving rapidly for our thousands of visitors.  As we have propelled past the quarter-million mark in hits, the need for more sophisticated operation and larger capacity loomed large and suddenly and more than two weeks of incredibly hard work (and a few "dad-gum-its") has been devoted to this fantastic transition.

A big THANKS to Brian
for getting this terrific boost for the Arkansas Sky Observatory website; not only do we have a new and much more versatile hosting capability for the ASO home, but we also have much more creative and expandable FORUM capabilities.

There are big changes in store as we pass the midpoint of 2004 for ASO:
ASO Petit Jean (H41) is now operating totally robotically and the automation is resulting in as many as 150 astrometric and photometric measurements of NEOs nightly, something impossible only a few years ago.  At Petit Jean Mountain, the 0.41m SCT is operated totally remotely once the instrument is initialized for the night, all from the comfort of my rather plush office and library.....heated and air conditioned comfort.

Within only weeks ASO Cascade Mountain (H44) will implement the huge GEM robotic 0.51m Newtonian telescope, also for astrometric measurements but also for variable and cataclysmic star studies starting later this year.

Both H41 and H44 continue to monitor patrol studies of the planets Mars, Jupiter and Saturn during favorable apparitions of those objects as well, and comets is always a "specialty."

We thank all of our devoted ASO Forum users and certainly each and every visitor that have contributed and merely logged into ASO....as we approach an astounding 300,000 hits within only weeks from now, we hope to continue to offer the very best in topics, forums and events in the world of astronomy and related sciences.

Welcome all....!!

I'll second that Ron!

Even though I'm homeless and borrowing computer time the first place I go is ARKSKY to get all the information I need!
