Hello Everyone!
Just got my scope back from Doc Clay a few days ago. It's fixed and it's supercharged.  WOW!  It's far quieter, it tracks PERFECTLY, it goes-to PERFECTLY, it sees PERFECTLY, it focuses PERFECTLY, heck it does everything PERFECTLY! (Somehow, I knew in my guts that Doc Clay would be the best thing to happen to my scope.)  Now I know to you guys that this is elementary, but I'm proud to say that last night I bagged the Orion Nebula, the Andromeda Galaxy, the Pleiades, Mars, Saturn, and studied Betelguese for an hour.  THANKS DAVE AND RON! for directing me to Doc Clay!

Here's my request:
Can anyone direct me to an alternate AC/DC adapter to use while I wait for the Meade #541 I ordered online to come in. I'm currently running on lithium batteries, but Doc says to use the adapter. There's a Radio Shack close by and I'm sure they have something suitable. I just want to make sure that I don't plug in something that will fry the electronics.

God Bless!

Doc is absolutely right on this, but we all know that already!  wink

At the moment I have forgotten the voltage and amperage requirements of the ETX scopes but if you look that up and have a Radio Shack near by they will most likely have a power supply that will fit the bill. There is also ScopeStuff and I can vouch for them as a sometimes customer. They do have a regulated power supply that works with the ETX telescopes, here's a link;

Robert,

You can also browse this site http://www.weasner.com/etx/techtips/2004/acplug.html

I'm sure you should be able to find the right parts to hook up to your car battery or a good 12v battery.

Ron

PS  I made a cord similar to this http://www.telescopes.com/telescope-accessories/power-supplies/meade607dcpowercordwcigarettelighteradapter.cfm using Radio Shack parts, 5 years ago and still use it since all of my viewing is done in the field without the use of 125vac and a power supply.  I use either the cars battery or my RV deep cycle battery.

I'm glad to hear you're pleased with the "new" scope Doc returned to you.
I don't think I'd do anything about power for now. If you've got the meade adapter on order it'll probably be there before you could put something together and I don't really see the need to buy one while you wait for the real thing to come in.

I think I'm going to follow your advice, Dave.  The scope is working perfectly and Lithium batteries are the highest quality one could get.  Besides, here in Carlsbad clouds are putting a damper on my viewing opportunities.

God Bless!
