greetings to all- have not had a chance wx wise to use the lx90 yet.  however i know that i should get a col tool from the threads i read on sct- i gather the col requirement is more stringent on some scopes or perhaps some scopes are more difficult to align than others- with my inexperience with cats  i was wondering if the orion laser col is adequate for the lx90- there appears to be a vast diffence in price on these tools and i dont want to buy a sixty or seventy dollar tool if i am going to have to replace it with something better- i did not own the dobs long enough to get in to collimating it other than using the tool that was supplied with it.  thanks for the help rocco

Hey Rocco,

Your best bet is to just collimate using the 3 screws in front and the eyepiece.  Here is a good how to guide.  http://skywatch.brainiac.com/collimation.pdf The only thing you may want is Bob's Knobs. Here is a link for them, http://www.scopestuff.com/ss_95col.htm its an easy job just take your time.

That's good advice from Grizz. Get Bob's Knobs and do it at high magnification with stars. There's no value in using a laser to collimate an SCT.
