On Friday evening, October 9, space enthusiasts from the Florida panhandle, Alabama,
Mississippi and Louisiana will have an opportunity to experience a visual "trip into the
cosmos" in search of the places that may harbor life outside of the Earth's friendly
confines.

"Cosmic Roots:  Why am I here"
is a dramatic visual encounter with the difficulties of our
search for extraterrestrial life AND the problems with getting to that life if it is ever
found....and, it hits head on with the question of UFO's:  "If they are visiting us, then
how are they getting here from such vast distances?"

Presented by Dr. P. Clay ("Doc Clay") Sherrod of the Arkansas Sky Observatories atop Petit
Jean Mountain, this will promise to be an entertaining yet provocative presentation, held
at Pensacola College on October 9 at 7 p.m., in the Lecture Room north of the school
Planetarium.  The presentation is offered through PCJ, the Escambia Amateur Astronomical
Association (EAAA)
and Arkansas Sky Observatories.

There is no charge for the presentation, and it is open to all space enthusiasts.

An example of this entertaining multi-media trip into space is the question of "Where are
all these UFOs coming from?"  Sherrod explains that with the multitude of sightings that
have been made every year throughout the world, the possibility of Alien Invasion is made
more difficult when you realize that they must travel by pretty much the same physics that
we must:  A trip to even the closest star may take an alien visitor as much as 156,000
years to make!

The prospect of a dying earth, running out of resources as the population grows
exponentially, is explored as visitors will undertake the task of determining WHERE to
look, how to look and how to determine where such life may exist.....or where the human
race of Earth might need to consider moving to in the foreseeable future.

What separates man from raccoons?  Come find out the space connection at "Cosmic Roots..."
and you will never think of "life" in the same way again.

Sherrod, an astronomer/archeologist/environmental researcher has given more than 5,000
lectures worldwide and hundreds of popular topics and scientific issues, bringing the
sometimes-confusing rhetoric of science to the public in fascinating and understandable
methods, through surprise and incredibly shocking facts, to constant audience
participation and discussion.  He is the author of 17 books in the sciences and hundreds
of research publications.  Now retired from the lecture circuit, the Pensacola area is on
of the few locations where Sherrod continues to present his latest challenges to the
general public.

Established in 1971, Arkansas Sky Observatories specializes in research of "world
systems", the delicate balance of biology on planetary systems, and on comet and dangerous
near earth asteroids that pose significant danger from impacts on Earth.
