First off, I want to thank Dr.Clay for helping me with my registration problem. I just recently purchased a Meade ETX 90PE as my starter scope. As a child, I was amazed with the stars. Now that the kids are all grown and moved out, I find I still look up and wonder what's up there. I don't figure 50 is too old to learn. I was surprised to find anyone in Arkansas . Since I had no luck finding telescope dealers beyond Wal-mart.

Warren,

Firstly welcome to ASO! I think you will find that you are not alone in trying to learn and figure things out about astronomy later in life. Some of us still consider ourselves nearer the beginning of that learning curve even though we have been toying with it for more than a few years.

Warren,

Welcome to the ASO Forums.  I didn't get started until age 65 in 2002 and I'm still playing catch up cheesy

Probably will for the rest of my life, but what a GREAT interesting hobby smiley

welcome aboard warren- i started in this hobby as a boy of 12 yrrs old when i got a 3 inch edmund scientific scope- i am 61 years old as we speak- over the years i  realized how little i know and how much there is to learn thats the beauty and facination with this hobby- to the rest of the group i am hoping the weather gods of spring will provide some clear nights- i had only 2 occasions to attempt to view mars as a result of a slight clearing but the seeing was awful clear skies to all rocco
