Tried observing the Sun 6-12-2010, found several tiny Sun Spots.

I sure wish this Sun Spot cycle would get cranked up cheesy

Nice shot Ron!
The surface detail and color are fantastic!

Can you talk a little about how this image was taken?

It's nice to see the Sun coming alive again.

Thanks Ted

You know me, everything is hunt and peck, trial and error grin

The image is a single image at prime focus, shot at 1/3200 using a Baader solar filter.  The spots were really hard to find and see, almost had to us averted vision to see them.  In fact, I didn't even see the Sun Spots on the right until I had done my first editing cheesy

This is the image before editing and cropping

Hi resolution http://www.fototime.com/%7B606C9F89-CF9C-4140-AA37-BB15430E3325%7D/origpict/IMG_1009.JPG

Here is a quick movie of the processing

The first frame, the fuzzy one, is the original image cheesy  The next one is a very heavy unshaped mask, and the next one is colored to taste grin

Ron

I tried this today on sunspot 1084 as afocal with the Baader.

I think the resolution is better with the 'T' ring.

Ron W,

1084 shows up pretty well though at afocal.

I have an adapter to shoot afocal but haven't tried it yet.

Maybe I'll get a chance to try for 1084 this weekend.  Going to spend 3 days at my Astronomy Club's viewing site.
