I have a 12" LX200R, Dr. Clay Supercharge, and built a balcony in an effort to get my scope high enough to see more sky.  It helped, but I cannot see Polaris at the present (hopefully can when leaves fall).

What would be the best advice regarding training and/or alignment?

Thanks!

Hi Steve and welcome to ASO!

My first, rather silly thought, was to do some tree trimming.  tongue

Your question about training and alignment is really related to how you are set up, Polar vs Alt/Az, and I am guessing the latter?

I am heading out on a mission in a few hours but I did shake the other trees so hang in there more answers/suggestions are on the way!

Hi Steve and welcome....
Sorry for the delayed response.
Please see the ASO Home Page, under the left directory GUIDES; click on that link and scroll down until you see my discussion about aligning to Celestial North using methods whe Polaris cannot be seen.

I hope this helps!
