Comet C/2009 P1 Garradd is visible  well before midnight. It is accessible well before midnight if you have an open site bu I do not so I must wait until midnight to see it. I was able to see it with 7x35mm binos earlier in the current week.   It is easy to find near Enif in Pegasus. The comet will be passing less than 1° of M15 on Aug 2. It is still brightening and will be  visible in the northern hemisphere well into 2012.

James,

Good catch!  Did you use SN for your co-ordinance?

I just got back from vacation and have a lot of catching up to do.

Thanks for sharing,

Ron

HI Ron

Yes, I think I did use SNP 5.0 . Which version of SN do you use? Is it worth the upgrade ?

James,

I have SNPP version 6.  I don't know if it is worth upgrading or not, I think it solved a few issues I had with 5.  I can't remember exactly what they were it's been so long.  I think one was with the printing of star maps.  I will probably upgrade to the next version if and when it ever comes out cheesy

I have upgraded to every version since 3 just because the price was fairly reasonable.

Nice shot and the color is true...the comet is truly green-blue.
This is now a good target for all telescopes, large and small and is easy to catch visually even in small telescopes.
A great target for imaging, with a now-straight and tapering tail stretching about 1/2 degree photographically.

Thanks for posting.
