A new version of the MPEC Sort application has just been released. This new version works with a new data source being supplied by the MPC. This allows for daily updates now instead of the monthly updates the program used to work off of. This also allows for quicker and more stable downloads of MPEC data.

Please let us know if you experience any issues with this new version.

Much thanks to Keith for some late night and quite proactive rapid response to the changing MPC databases.
This was not simple to implement but the new version has been tested and is a terrific change, since the NEOs and Comets are now updated daily based on each night's MPC Daily Orbital Update (DOU), making the position of the object far more accurate than the previous monthly versions.

Note that if you already have MPECsort installed on your computer, clicking the desktop icon will result in an automatic update of the program to this new version; if you do not have it installed, the installation is location on the HOME PAGE of ASO, www.arksky.org

I know you both had a great deal to do with achieving such a major change and I wanted to express my gratitude. Someone once said when you get a new telescope and open the box you let the clouds out, well that must also apply to new astronomy programs.....yep rain is moving in here!
