Virgo cluster of galaxies

Hi,

The weather cleared somehow last week ... I imaged the Virgo Cluster of Galaxies.
Not an easy task with high altitude haze and occasional clouds.

Well, one hour worth of data went through, Sky90 with reducer, ST8, and lots of work at removing gradients and grainy background.

The galaxy at the bottom was cut out during stacking due to drift in imaging, I had to separately stack five images where it appears and then "mosaic" it in the view.

Great photo of a Great cluster!

I have been wanting to try and get a shot of  this one but never seem to get the opportunity.  NGC5139 stays pretty low for us and I think I missed its highest point last month.  What Latitude are you over there?

Hi Ron,

I am at 1 deg north latitude, Omega Centauri was quite high (30  deg altitude but just a couple deg above the roof ( I image from a balcony facing north ...).

Nice going Jean-Yves! The Virgo cluster shot is nice and smooth, looks great. And the Omega Centauri shot is fantastic! Stars resolved all the way to the center, really nice! I can't believe how big that is, even using the Sky 90 it fills the screen.

I'm glad you got some clear sky! It's been a while for the rest of us. I've been waiting for another "I'm leaving due to inactivity" message from Ron! Thankfully those are reserved for April 1st...

Nice FOV with that setup, you should be able to get some nice shots from the Sagittarius Teapot soon.
